Salted Cacao Creamed Honey

Salted Cacao Creamed Honey

$12

Our delicious Salted Cacao Creamed Honey is delicious and has a smooth spreadable consistency.

We use Heirloom Salt from JQ Dickinson Saltworks, a West Virginia family company owned by 7th generation salt-makers. This salt is harvested by hand from an ancient ocean trapped below the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia's Kanawha Valley.

Our raw organic, free-trade fermented cacao powder comes from Wildly Organic. Wildly Organic's cacao powder is made from USDA Certified Organic, non-GMO cacao. The farmers who cultivate Wildly Organic's raw cacao products have been using eco-friendly, sustainable methods and growing Forastero, Trinitario, and Criollo cacao varieties on their land for generations. Hand-packed by Wildly Organic's team in the USA, their organic raw cacao powder comes from local farmers throughout the Dominican Republic who have naturally fermented the cacao in banana leaves for 3-5 days and represents the finest in all-natural fermented cacao.

ABC makes our creamed honey from our raw Appalachian mountain honey, controlling a cold crystallization of the honey so that the honey crystals all grow small and uniform. This method creates a finished product with a lovely creamy texture. Creamed honey is raw, and contains all the health benefits of our traditional Appalachian honey.

Please note we do not ship our flavored creamed honey in the warmer months because the heat can reverse the creaming process. The honey is still just as delicious, but the consistency reverts back to liquid honey.

All of our delicious raw honey is produced by more than 100 local beekeepers in the forested mountains of Appalachia. We protect the bees, beekeepers, and our ecosystem by using no synthetic chemicals or antibiotics in any part of our process.

The Appalachian Beekeeping Collective is a project of Appalachian Headwaters, a non-profit organization working to restore formerly mined forest land and to bring jobs to the mountains of Appalachia. We recruit, educate, and support beekeepers in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia, creating sustainable income for local communities.
